HRS Headlines – Company cars – Alignment from the National Office of Social Security

Context

As mentioned in our HRS headlines of 12 February 2004, the Belgian tax authorities recently published a circular fixing the total number of private kilometres taken into account to determine the benefit in kind for the private use of a company car to 5.000 km or 7.500 km, depending on whether the distance between the home and the office is lower or higher than 25 km.

News

We received today an official letter from the National Office of Social Security confirming that the social security authorities will apply the same rules (included in the circular) as the tax authorities to determine the company car benefit in kind. This position should soon be published in the “Algemene onderrichtingen voor de werkgevers / Instructions générales aux employeurs” of the National Office of Social Security.
