Social security treaty between Uruguay and Belgium

 
A bilateral social security treaty regulating the mutual relations in the field of social security has been signed between Belgium and Uruguay on 22 November 2006.The treaty will come into force on 1 August 2009.

Provisions are laid down in the treaty for determining the applicable social security legislation in Uruguayan – Belgian international (self-) employment situations.

As a general rule, the work state principle applies, implying that a person carrying out professional activities in one state is subject to the social security legislation of that country. However, employees seconded to and from Uruguay shall be subject (only) to the home social security scheme, provided that their secondment is not expected to exceed five years. People who carry out salaried activities in both states shall be subject to the social security scheme of the state where they reside.

Social security treaty between the Republic of Korea and Belgium

 

Context

A bilateral social security treaty regulating the mutual relations in the field of social security has been signed between Belgium and the Republic of Korea on 5 July 2005.

News

The treaty has come into force on 1 July 2009.
Provisions are laid down in the treaty for determining the applicable social security legislation in Korean – Belgian international (self-) employment situations.

As a general rule, the work state principle applies, implying that a person carrying out professional activities in one state is subject to the social security legislation of that country. However, employees seconded to and from the Republic of Korea shall be subject (only) to the home social security scheme, provided that their secondment is not expected to exceed five years. People who carry out self-employed activities in both states shall be subject to the social security scheme of the state where they reside.

Social security treaty between India and Belgium

 

A bilateral social security treaty regulating the mutual relations in the field of social security has been signed between Belgium and India on 3 November 2006.

According to our informal contacts, the ratification procedure is in its last stage and the treaty will (almost certainly) come into force on 1 September 2009.

Provisions are laid down in the treaty for determining the applicable social security legislation in Indian – Belgian international employment situations.

As a general rule, the work state principle applies, implying that an employee carrying out activities in one state is subject to the social security legislation of that country. However, employees seconded to and from India shall be subject (only) to the home social security scheme, provided that their secondment is not expected to exceed five years.
